Equilibrium

"Equilibrium is a state of steadiness and perfect balance"

Equilibrium is now in its fifth year and continues to go from strength to strength. The unique program was designed to address skills that have the greatest effect on balance, control and confidence. The main focus is on linking technique to tactics through mental preparation. This is an exciting practical based course where you will learn how to become fluent, decisive and a more creative paddler.

What can an Equilibrium course provide me?

The learning outcomes of this course are control, confidence and an understanding of how we interact with the white water environment. If you have an interest in the following development areas then this is the course for you.

  • Learn the latest boating techniques and tactics.
  • Re-building confidence in your ability.
  • Improving your learning curve.
  • Injecting new creativity into your paddling.
  • Have a greater understanding of white water dynamics.
  • Feedback session using video analysis.
  • Individual debriefs to set a long-term action plan.

What level of ability do I need to be?

In order to get the best out of this course you should have fundamental boat control on Grade 3 water. This includes manoeuvres such as breaking in/out, ferry gliding, and the beginnings of a white water roll (60%+ effective). You should also be reasonably fit. If you have no, or little white water experience, you should check out our Quick-start 2 or BCU 3 Star Inland courses.
