This is an action packed program aimed at intermediate to advanced boaters who want to improve performance and gain experience in this challenging environment.
What can a Steep Creeking course provide me?
A creek-boater must know and understand the environment he or she is working in. This includes the velocity and volume, temperature, the water’s reaction to obstructions in the stream bed, objective and subjective hazards, how to get yourself and others out of danger, and foremost, knowledge of your own limitations. If you have an interest in the following development areas then this course would have great benefits for you:
- All the latest steep-creeking techniques.
- Increase your knowledge of this steep river environment.
- Have a greater understanding of white water dynamics.
- Tactical knowledge of selecting and achieving lines.
- Debriefs and feedback session using video analysis.
- A greater understanding of mental rehearsal and how to best apply it.
- Risk assessing and understanding their consequences.
- Confidence in your boating abilities, and understanding your limitations.
What level of ability do I need to be?
In order to get the best out of this course you should feel confident on grade 3/4 water. You must have a reliable white water roll (90%+ effective). You should also be reasonably fit as there is a certain amount of trekking with boats involved. If you have little confidence with drops and falls or your roll is not 90% confident check out our Free-ride V2 or Advanced Rolling Courses.
